“When a problem arises, I focus on finding solutions instead of dwelling on it. That mindset keeps me moving forward, no matter what comes my way.”

Sometimes, the best opportunities come when you least expect them—but need them the most without even knowing it. Born in France to Spanish and Italian parents, Alba Zaragoza grew up surrounded by diverse cultures and perspectives—a foundation that shaped her passion for communication and her talent for problem-solving.

In February 2021, Alba joined Signicat, stepping into a fast-paced Pan-European role as a PR Specialist in the Marketing team, quickly rising to become Signicat’s Communications Manager. Now based in Madrid and in her early 30s, Alba has mastered the art of balancing a thriving career with motherhood, expertly managing the demands of her role while raising a young child and caring for a newborn.

“I initially wanted to study Advertising and Public Relations, but my parents suggested Journalism as a better fit. In the end, it turned out to be the perfect bridge between the two.”

From Paris to Madrid: a “Poetic” Journey

Alba’s story began in Paris, where she spent her early years before her family relocated to Madrid when she was six—the move was initially meant to be temporary but was made permanent by the lure of Spain’s sunny charm. “My parents couldn’t resist Madrid’s light and warmth after rainy Paris,” Alba laughs. Her multicultural upbringing gave her a natural ability to connect with people—a skill that would become the cornerstone of her career in communication.

Inspired by storytelling and connection, Alba pursued a degree in Journalism in Madrid—a choice influenced by her parents’ vision of a “poetic” career. “I initially wanted to study Advertising and Public Relations, but my parents suggested Journalism as a better fit. In the end, it turned out to be the perfect bridge between the two,” she reflects. It was in PR that Alba ultimately found her professional calling, merging creativity with strategy.

“2021 was a tough time in the world, but joining Signicat felt right.”

Thriving Through Change and Uncertainty

Alba’s career had always been rooted in agencies and B2C communication, where she built a reputation for crafting impactful strategies. But in 2021, as the pandemic reshaped industries, a quieter workload left her seeking new challenges. “Things were too quiet at the agency I worked for—clients were pausing their PR plans to focus on digital marketing,” she recalls. That’s when Signicat reached out with an opportunity to step into the world of B2B PR. “It was a tough time in the world, but joining Signicat felt right,” Alba remembers.

“At first, I didn’t fully understand what the company did,” Alba admits, “but I loved the purpose and mission behind it and immediately felt a connection with the company culture.” Her connection with her future manager was instant, which made the decision to join easy. “It felt like the perfect next step in my career.”

“Every day at Signicat keeps me on my toes and learning.”

Reimagine Work, Redefine Possibilities, Fuel Growth

What Alba loves most about her role is the balance between structure and spontaneity. “I can plan my work with complete freedom,” she shares. From coordinating with colleagues across seven countries to building Signicat’s Pan-European leadership positioning, crafting content, or pitching stories to the press, her work constantly challenges and engages her.

“It’s a big shift from working in just one market,” Alba explains, “but it’s taught me to rethink everything I thought I knew and to embrace new perspectives.” With its ever-changing demands, her role ensures that no two days are alike. “I might start the day with a clear plan, but it often evolves completely,” she says. “Every day keeps me on my toes and learning.”

“Being part of a global team is incredibly enriching,” she shares. “I’ve learned so much about different cultures—how people greet each other, how to communicate to avoid misunderstandings, and even how meal times and typical foods vary across countries, as well as what people enjoy doing in their free time. It’s these little details that make collaboration so exciting.”

"Juggling the demands of work and motherhood is not always easy, but having the trust and support of my manager and Signicat as a company makes all the difference.”
