itsme® announces the acquisition of Dutch identification service iDIN
The Dutch identity service iDIN is being acquired by itsme®. Itsme® is an eIDAS-notified identity method founded by Belgian banks and telecom operators, and it supports identification, login, and digital signatures at the highest eIDAS assurance level. Over time, iDIN will be phased out in favor of itsme®, which will also be available for use in the Netherlands. The transition is expected to begin mid-2026.
It’s important to note that iDIN will remain in place for now, followed by a transition period, so there’s no cause for concern. iDIN will continue to be available for at least the next two years. During this time, users can gradually register for itsme®. Signicat already supports itsme® as an identity method and will ensure our customers receive clear guidance and strong support before and throughout the transition.
